I have been on the X Ambassadors bandwagon for quite some time. Having seen the Ithaca boys live as an opening act to another Lemonade artist, Imagine Dragons, some years back with Sam Harris‘s unorthodox dancing while wailing on his sax is something to behold. It is pure entertainment on all levels.
After a string of successful hits from their debut album, VHS, like “Jungle”, “Renegades” and “Unsteady”, X Ambassadors have released a new song, “The Devil You Know”, that is featured on the online trailer for the upcoming movie from Universal, American Made, starring Tom Cruise.
And this new track is exactly what you would expect from the alternative band. When stating that this is an expected song does not imply that it is predictable, because that is exactly what X Ambassadors is not. They are unpredictable and because of that what you get with “The Devil You Know” is different from the previously mentioned songs, but still distinctly X Ambassadors.
The track is anthemic in nature and absolutely perfect for rockin’ the hell out of a packed arena. While lyrically not their most complex, although a bit of a tongue twisting is involved, it still shows off the guys ability to rock with a fun guitar riff, strong, heart-pumping percussion and bass lines. It is a fun track that will worm its way in and be stuck in your head for days.
So what I am telling you is that the remedy is to put “The Devil You Know” on loudly, repeatedly before you go and do bad out on the town with friends. Yeah, it is that kind of jam and you should enjoy it as such.
You can pick up the new single, “The Devil You Know” by X Ambassadors, on iTunes and most other major retailers now and you can stream it on SoundCloud below.
