I love listening to new music and sometimes we are treated to something fresh and lively. The Indianapolis-based quintet, The WLDLFE, have been releasing new music fairly regularly since their inception starting with their debut EP, New, in March 2016 and followed it up with a second EP, ILY, the following February.
The youthful, high-energy band has released another poppin’ single, “I Don’t Mind”. While their style is certainly pop-dominant, the The WLDLIFE, consisting of Jansen Hogan, Jason Boucouras, Jack Crane, Geoffrey Jones, and Carson Hogan, is filled with harmonic depth and layered synths surrounded by a generous portion of steady percussion and a catchy hook. And as an added bonus, the Hoosiers bring back a mid-song guitar solo that is a reminiscent of the 1980s and 1990s. Not necessarily stylistically, but it feels nostalgic as today’s music lacks that soloist mentality unless you are a vocalist.
In a way, it seems that “I Don’t Mind” is The WLDLFE‘s push to bring about a renaissance of solos. It is a great thing to show off the musical talents of the band and not just the lead singer. “I Don’t Mind” is wonderfully balanced and hopefully this is just the start for the up and coming band.
