In 2011, of Verona released their first EP, Fall Like Roses, and it struck a chord; a really fun, energetic, unique chord. In 2012, they released their first full length studio album, The White Apple, that took a lot of those same elements from their EP and it was brilliant. The LA-based band called their music “futuristic glitter rock”.
Well, it is now 2016, and of Verona is on the verge of releasing their much anticipated sophomore album titled, Glass Beach. But just before the holiday season truly starts, they have given us an early gift with a couple of new singles, “Can You Hear Me”, which we introduced here, and now their most recent release, “Miracles”.
The video is very basic and yet powerfully imaginative. It is our lovely blue jewel of a planet spinning slowly. It is beautifully simple.
The song itself is what we are starting to expect from of Verona. “Miracles” is a complete song and is full of ethereal, down-tempo electronic based rhythms with a solid backbone of percussion. The ghostly and haunting vocals of Mandi Perkins drive the track into, for a lack of a better word, the stratosphere.
It really does feel like something that would be great for ambience or travelling through the vacuum of space. It is hard not to remember “Raining” when listening to “Miracles”. It almost feels like this is a sequel and as a statement that she will see her brother again. In any case, this is a brilliant song and just increases the anticipation for the full album release.
