Melbourne, Australia’s Courtney Barnett has released a brand new video for her song “Elevator Operator”, a single off of her 2015 release Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit. The music video features several cameos from some of our favorite indie artists like WWU Alumni (had to as a Bellingham resident) Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco fame. There are also several appearances by fellow Aussie musicians throughout.
As the title of the song implies, the video revolves around Barnett as an Elevator Operator surrounded by some less than stellar people putting a damper on her day. The ride also features several surprises at each stop including a Frisbee throwing beach bum and a bummed out girl in a kangaroo costume.
Courtney Barnett’s deadpan delivery of her cynical yet witty lyrics is nothing short of enjoyable and this music video is a perfect companion for the song.
