I am definitely a little behind on music, but when I received the email to promote the brand new single, “Window”, from acoustic folk group, TIEG, comprised of band leader Tieg Johnson and a myriad of his musician friends (8 friends to be exact), I could not pass it up. The LA-based nonuplet – haha, yeah, I had to look it up too – has been producing music for nearly a decade and has found a beautiful throwback folk-pop vibe that tracks with legends like Simon and Garfunkel.
“Window” is a tender, heart-warming track that is filled with wondrous harmonies and loving, saccharin lyrics of a reuniting couple. The use of analogue instrumentation that are typically left to the classical world, such as the flute and oboe, give the song added depth and reach. TIEG finds a way to set themselves apart from the crowded folk genre by taking more talented musicians, but not making one particular instrument the star. They have found a balance that is artistic and expressive without being cluttered.
Honestly, if you are a fan of folk music, then you need to pick up this single. It is going to be that perfect reunion or special occasion track that everyone will say, “Awww!” and then scramble to ask Google who is playing this song. So go get it!
