Music is such a personal thing. Creating music is even more personal and the 18-year old singer/songwriter Sydney Jaffe is no exception. If anything, she invites you to immerse yourself in her world. The rising singer/songwriter has a long love affair with music and singing. As a 13-year old, Sydney Jaffe started recording covers and within a few years started writing original material. Her energetic, beat driven sound is heavily influenced by pop icons Demi Lovato and P!nk with a touch of nostalgiafrom the late 1990s R&B scene.
The New York City-native also wants you to have a little fun on her latest single, “Reckless”, and the title of the track does not bother to hide its intentions. The single is filled with a fun dance-inducing beat and youthful enthusiasm that translates into an endlessly entertaining pop anthem about living in the moment. As “Reckless” progresses, you get a sense of how easily Sydney Jaffe makes the vocals sound even with the runs that wind throughout the chorus.
She is driven to excel and believes that creating songs that are personal makes for the best music. We could not agree more. A song like “Reckless” is relatable because it is real. Sydney Jaffe shows us that being vulnerable and a little wild at times is an adventure. When we are young, we want to grow up so quickly, but as we get older, we long for our youth. The NYC indie artist is leading the way with “Reckless” telling us that is okay to be carefree and enjoy life as it comes. Even at 18, her wisdom shines though her art and we willingly follow her on her reckless journey.
