Zach Rogue of Rogue Wave and Courtney Jaye have joined forces for their aptly titled duo project, Rogue+Jaye. Most of you are probably somewhat familiar with Rogue, but if you are having trouble trying to place Jaye, there is a good chance you have heard her collaborating with one of your favorite indie acts including Indigo Girls, Band of Horse and Dallas Green.
Pent Up has a wonderful singer/songwriter feel to it mostly centered around Jaye’s vocals with Rogue providing some depth and fullness. The pair work together very nicely as the end product is a soothing, easy to listen to release. It is also a nice treat when Rogue does step up a little onĀ tracks like “Forces of Decay” and “Little Relief”.
If I am going to nitpick, the argument could be made that there isn’t really a standout track on the album, but that’s only a small issue as the album is very well done from start to finish and I do believe Rogue+Jaye accomplished what they intended to. All things considered, Pent Up is a strong effort.
You can pick up Pent Up by Rogue+Jaye on iTunes now. And check out their first video for the song, “Forces of Decay”.
