The up and coming pop singer/songwriter Genevieve Faivre, better known by her stage name LadyChild, has asked us to premiere her sophomore single, “Man Overboard”, off of her upcoming debut self-titled EP. And we just had to say yes! The Brooklyn-based musician has been hard at work writing and recording the music for her new EP and “Man Overboard” is a wonderful flagship track to grab attention.
“I decided ‘Man Overboard’ would be a great second single because it incorporates other styles and sounds found throughout the other songs on the EP, while still maintaining a similar rock vibe heard in the first single; ‘Out of Breath’,” LadyChild stated about the new single, “It was also one of the more popular songs on the EP when I would play it for friends and family.”
And “Man Overboard” is that beautiful meshing of genres that incorporates those wonderful rock elements and complemented with blues and dark pop influences. Think of LadyChild‘s sound as a layered mashup of Diana Krall and Fiona Apple with a touch of Radiohead experimentation. It is a unique and fascinating combination that is fresh and timeless. Plus, how do you say no to friends and family?
