It is still a honor and surprise when a band or artist asks us to premiere a song or, in this case, a music video for them. Honestly, we pinch ourselves daily to know that we get to listen to new music. Today is one of those special days where we get to present to you a brand new music video from one of our favorite bands: The Big Drops.
“Help Me”, the brand new single, is an extension of the bands quirky, psych-rock style that is prevalent throughout their current release, Time, Color. The stinging electric guitar and the harmonious vocals give the track a dreamy, tropical feel that draws inspiration from the 1960s era pop-rock with a familiar theme. “‘Help Me’ is a slightly old-fashioned bittersweet love song,” The Big Drops muse. “It’s good ol’ classy heartbreak.” And it is hard not to hear shades from the early days of the electric guitar with their trippy, bluesy pop-infused riffs.
The New Jersey-based band’s release of the acoustic version of “Help Me” which, until today, was an early, unreleased track, is a homage to their greatest fan. “‘Help Me’ is one of the earliest Big Drops tunes,” the band confirms. “We don’t have it recorded and we don’t often play it live with a full band, so we wanted to get it out into the world. It also happens to be our Mom’s favorite song. So that’s always a good incentive to record a tune.” And how exactly can you deny releasing your mom’s favorite song? You can not and it is our absolute honor and pleasure to present “Help Me”!
