We have the absolute pleasure of premiering the first new project from singer/songwriter Alice Limoges since 2016’s The Space Between. The brand new single and music video for “Hungry For A Vice” follow the soul/jazz artist through a series of bars clubs and looking for something to fill the void left behind by a terrible relationship. “I wrote it after I quit smoking, and was itching to do something bad to myself and self-destruct,” she said. The track has since taken on a new meaning for the rising talent.
“I ended a long-term relationship with a guy who was really bad for me and brought me down,” the NYC-based musician recalled, “and now when I play it, I think about him and filling that nasty void in my life.”
The antiqued, grainy stylistic choice of the shoot gives the video a dark, hazy feel like Alice Limoges‘s musical styling. Her use of trumpets and an upright bass, puts you in the corner of a smoky lounge that begs to have a 3 AM highball of bourbon, neat of course.
The Maine-native carves out a special sub-genre of jazz that takes soul and jazz and modernizes it with a hints of indie rock that matches her soulful vocals. It is a brilliant piece of cinematography and musical genius. “Hungry For A Vice” is a revelation that draws on the influences of the greats, but brings it to the 21st century.
