Surprise! Los Angeles-based artists, Philly K., dropped an unannounced single last week called, “Wake Up”. The single is a collaborative effort with famed New York producer and songwriter David Sisko. You may remember that we did a feature on Philly K. and Madi Rindge a little over a year ago for their single, “California” (and if you do not remember you can check it out: HERE).
The resulting track is a soulful, smooth 1990s R&B-infused song that incorporates a modern twist of electronic and synth beats. Along with his clean and pop-sensible vocals, Philly K. gives us hope that summer will last just a little bit longer with “Wake Up”. The song is a head-bobbing, chill track that is about the harshness of a breakup and not wanting to deal with a former flame.
The cool part is that this is a just a teaser track and if it is any indication of the quality, then Philly K.‘s debut album is going to be a must-have. He is currently working on the as yet untitled album that will hopefully be available sometime in the next few months.
The brand new single, “Wake Up” by Philly K., is available now on iTunes or you can check it out on Spotify below!
