Singer/songwriter Patrick Dorgan has been a little quiet over the last couple of years, but he has been working diligently creating new music since his last album, Painkillers, was released in 2015. The first new single for the Irish-Danish musician, “Safe Here”, is a wonderful, sensual pop track that is supremely self-confident and simultaneously heartbreaking. Influenced by musical titans like Whitney Houston, The Beatles and Stevie Wonder and rock giants AC/DC and Aerosmith, the young Patrick Dorgan took aspects from each to create an interesting and unique style that is pop music, but with his international twist.
Patrick Dorgan‘s vocals are deeply intense with a beautiful, soulful warmth that fits the dramatic balance between pleasure and pain in “Safe Here”. There is a darkness that permeates the single, but toward the end the song, it takes a turns with a significant key change that concludes the track on an uplifting hopeful note. It might be a minor thing, but it shows attention to detail in the production.
“Safe Here”, like a lot of music, was a way for Patrick Dorgan to unleash his pent up emotional muse and it produced a relatable roller coaster of a song. So, if you are looking for something a little different, but want the feel of a traditional pop single with international influences, then pick up “Safe Here”.
