When I was told to listen to Scottish artist ONR., I was a little hesitant. Sometimes being told that I would like an artist can be a turn off, because it is about the chase to find the undiscovered. The one that stands out from the rest and it is a rush finding those new artists. But the person who informed me of ONR.‘s existence is much better versed in the musical world than me, so taking her advice I opened the SoundCloud link and took a listen. Needless to say, I was absolutely blown away by the completeness of ONR.‘s “5 Years Time”.
The mysterious singer/songwriter takes a wonderful approach that focuses on poetic lyrics that are layered with shades of progressive rock and grasps the heart and soul of pop music. The Scottish vocalist then finds a wonderful balance blending the organic and electronic production of late 1990s R&B with an added twist and working with producers Mark Crew (Bastille, Rag & Bone Man), Doc McKinney (The Weeknd) and 4-time Grammy winning mixer Spike Stent may have something to do with that.
Regardless of who ONR. works with he is still the man who has to perform at the highest level to produce a song as clean and polished as “5 Years Time”. And while the up and coming artist has not made a big splash yet, the amount of talent that the Capitol Record artist will continue to grow. His time is coming and you might as well jump on the ONR. bandwagon like I have.
You can pick up the brand new single, “5 Years Time”, from Scottish singer/songwriter ONR. on iTunes now.
