Me Like Bees may have released their single “The River Divides” last summer, and, in anticipation of their brand new EP, Songs From The Realm, the track has racked up 70,000 listens on Spotify. What makes this EP so unique, you ask? It just happens to be the soundtrack for a new comic book series from publisher Image Comics (known for The Walking Dead series) called The Realm.
Obviously, I am a huge fan of Skin and Earth from Canadian electro-pop artist Lights who not only wrote the accompanying album by the same title, but also created the entire comic series. It is inspiring to see other artists and series following this lead. The Joplin, MO band, Me Like Bees, are well suited for it as well. Their alternative rock sound appeals to many tastes in a Manchester Orchestra sort of way. Although their sound is firmly alternative, there are hints of southern rock, as well as other sounds that set them apart from the post-punk era that we are all so used to in the alternative genre.
Hopefully you are as excited about the release as I am, but if my word is not enough, by all means, check out the music video for “The River Divides” down below on YouTube. The much anticipated EP, Songs From The Realm, will be released on March 30, 2018, but for now pick up “The River Divides” by Me Like Bees on iTunes now!
