When Alex Moore and Spencer Livingston met in Los Angeles in 2014, they came together to create a songwriting duo aptly named Livingmore. They are not your typical singer/songwriter types though. They have a little additional liveliness, sprinkle of electricity and an overflowing abundance of musical chemistry. Their dreamy pop sound is, as they put it, “a mixture of Blondie and The Everly Brothers.” And to be honest, that is a perfect description of their upcoming album, Ok To Land. You might think that this is not anything terribly unique or different. And you might be right, but what Livingmore does better that most is their ability to blend those two very different sounds into a cohesive, positive, and upbeat sound.
Their positivity and optimism is something of an anomaly, especially in today’s political climate. Take Livingmore‘s first single, “Cocoon”. It is a fun, guitar-driven track that contemplates whether we should grow up or not. And the lead song of the upcoming record, “Really Mean It”, is an anthemic beast of honesty that is all about going back to their roots of organic, hands-on music. And, of course, “Never Slow Down” is an absolute gem. It is an upbeat, lush track that encompasses a fresh response today’s overly digitized and electronic music. It is a perfect track.
There are really no missteps on Really Mean It. Every track has its place and every song has enough variety which makes this album repeatable and replayable. It is a stellar example of electrified folk Americana. Livingmore is going to be your jam for this summer’s playlist and if you do not pick it up, you will be missing out.
