It seems more often than not lately, the airwaves are dominated by tracks that include – what I call – “happy chords”. Sometimes it feels like the use of a minor chord or two is a dying art which is kind of sad, since just that simple addition to a melody can add a level of sadness, intensity or sexiness to an otherwise ordinary tune.
Thankfully, Jenna Lotti is here to resurrect the simple yet dynamic sound of old while also staying up to date with the current popular style. Her brand new single “Honey” is a catchy track with hints of Chris Isaak, Roy Orbison and more recently Lana Del Rey.
That said, Jenna Lotti‘s voice is anything, but affected. In fact, what is so great about her vocals is that you do not tend to hear tracks with her level of clarity and strength in the electric dance genre. It is refreshing, to say the least, to hear a bold sound come through in the midst of so many breathy, ethereal vocals that are currently the status quo.
