You may know something about Jaymes Young. Maybe you have heard his debut single, “Dark Star” or his breakout single, “We Won’t” featuring the lovely Phoebe Ryan. Or you may have heard him as a featured artist with British songstress Birdy on David Guetta‘s “I’ll Keep Loving You”. In any case, he probably is not at the forefront of your minds yet, but the Seattle-native is about to make a huge splash in the musical world with his upcoming album, Feel Something.
Jaymes Young has an amazing ability to take his alternative roots and blend it with a hint of R&B and soul to create a distinct sound that is fluid, heartfelt and entertaining. Take the song “Sugar Burn”. You have this tender, pop melody that is matched with an uptempo percussion. Add in Young’s incredibly emotional vocals and you have an artist who has all the tools to become a superstar. And after having gone through the album numerous times, there are absolutely no missteps. Every track from the beginning with “Tied Down” to the last track, “Infinity”, is complete. Production is beautifully clean, vocals are tight and clean. Musically, you get all of the fun elements of electro-pop, soul, R&B, trip-hop and the kitchen sink.
If there is a more highly-anticipated debut album than Jaymes Young‘s Feel Something, I can not think of what it is. It has all of the off-beat, alternative sounds you are looking for in an indie record, but all of the high-end, detailed production of a major label release. There are radio-friendly hits like, “Feel Something” and “We Won’t”, but other tracks are more underground and dank, like “Black Magic” and “Stoned On You”. And if you are looking for something a bit more singer/songwriter and acoustic, “I’ll Be Good” will probably be your jam. There is a little of everything and it will be worth picking up.
Feel Something by Jaymes Young will be available on June 23, 2017. Pre-order the album on iTunes now and you get 4 songs instantly.
