We are fans of NBC’s The Voice. It is that simple. We have feature quite a few artists that have graced the stages of television’s singing competition including Emily Keener, Dia Frampton, Caroline Glaser, Melanie Martinez and Cassadee Pope to name a few. And to continue that trend of talented singers that we have featured, The Voice alum Jacquie Lee has released a brand new single, “For You”. Going by just her first name now, the runner-up of Season 5 has been busy. This newest single is everything that is great about Jacquie.
The now 20-yr old New Jersey native is taking cues from her Grammy winning coach Christina Aguilera and letting her voice soar. Now Jacquie is heading down the R&B path that includes the synth heavy beats, but allows her powerhouse, sexy vocals to freely express itself. And “For You” is a significant departure from her previous effort on Broken Ones EP. The sound is modern and mature.
“‘For You’ is kind of just a letter that I wrote to myself,” she explains. “I do keep journaling, no matter how bad it gets, or whatever state of mind I’m in. Journaling has always been something that’s helped me get out of it. So that’s where all my lyrics come from. ‘What are you going through?’ It’s such a freeing kind of experience that’s way more therapeutic if it’s just you, your life.”
And because of that freeing experience, her music has evolved and is showing flashes of brilliance that will continue to vault her toward stardom. It has given Jacquie the control that she wants and needs to be the artist that can tell her stories in the way that is personal and approachable. The powerful pop songstress is just getting started and, honestly, “For You” is the first step to show the world her true talent and not the meager pinhole version that the was crafted by out of touch record executives on Broken Ones.
