I love song that are real and honest. Those are the songs that make people feel feelings that they thought they had bottled up and locked away. Music has this way of touching our souls and shaking loose those dark harbored emotions we had forgotten. It is also cathartic to know that someone out there can feel the same way that you do. Singer/songwriter Chlo Subia, along with two-time Grammy nominated producer/songwriter Druski (Zendaya, Tori Kelly, Nick Jonas), has released a brand new single called, “Tired”.
The young artist, who is just 16 years old, has traded in her up-tempo, unapologetic anthem, “5 Minutes”, for a piano-driven, somber ballad featuring a gospel choir including NBC’s The Voice vocal coach Stevie Mackey. “Tired” shows Chlo Subia‘s insane ability to change her style from song to song. It allows her sensual, vulnerable vocals to shine without being buried behind layers of synths and electronic beats.
“It’s a song I wrote with a little broken heart,” confesses Chlo Subia. “It’s a pretty vulnerable song where I was super honest about my feelings of being hurt and confused. Even at the end of a relationship, you can love someone so much but their actions speak louder than words. There’s only so much effort you can keep putting in. I think lots of people can relate to that.”
And she is correct. People can relate to these temporary, yet painful, emotions and that makes this track such a beauty. Even at such a young, tender age, she has felt the sting of love’s downside and translated it into a heartbreakingly beautiful song. If Chlo Subia continues down this path of real, raw music, she will lead an electro-pop revolution.
