It was a little before my time, but the 1970s were an interesting time and the Los Angeles trio, Bahari, are re-introducing us to a crazy decade filled with warm earth tones, feathered hair and their new single, “Summer Forever” off of their debut EP, Dancing On The Sun. We love Bahari and their edgy electro-pop sound that is catchy and heartfelt without being fake.
The ladies, consisting of singer/bassist Natalia Panzarella, singer/guitarist Sidney Sartini, and singer/keyboardist Ruby Carr, follow up their third single, “Chasers”, with a surprise throwback track that fills the airwaves with throwback themes and rhythms, but features their impeccable harmonies and insane chemistry. The video that accompanied the track is steeped in nostalgic 1970s feel that will remind you of the hit television shows “That 70s Show” and the original airing of “Charlie’s Angels”. It is funky and a little weird, but all fantastic complete with the dizzying array of orange, yellow and brown.
The retro feel of “Summer Forever” is exactly what we need as the summer comes to a close. In a way, it is a last dig effort to extend the sunny warmth and freedom that we so desired as kids over the summer break from school. It should be in your playlists for all of your barbecues and final days on the lakes and rivers before autumn arrives. Even better, Bahari is current in the studio finishing up some new music for their debut album release schedule for later this year.
