I will be the first to say that I haven’t always been fully on the Ariana Grande bandwagon. It’s not that she hasn’t put out good music. I have just always felt that her main competition has been a step ahead of her. Another pick of mine is that fact that she seems to always be singing through her nose, much like Christina Aguilera has for the majority of her career. Aguilera is widely considered one of the best voices in the world, so I suppose that opinion is more personal than anything.
When Grande released “Dangerous Woman”, I was very impressed. It has a simple, yet powerful beat and her vocals are better than ever (as in finally not through her nose). I mean, heck, I could even be found singing along with it in my car a few times, which I may add gets some weird stares. So with that said, I was actually kind of excited to see what she would do with her album of the same title.
Dangerous Woman is actually a very strong effort from Ariana Grande and features some wildly good tracks, highlighted by the title track, as well as “Leave Me Lonely” featuring someone us 90’s kids will remember, Macy Gray, and the slowed down “I Don’t Care”.
It does, at times, feel like 15 tracks is overkill. None of the songs are bad by any means, but perhaps including a few as bonus tracks would have made a little more sense. The truth is Ariana Grande does have a phenomenal voice. Maybe the reason I am so picky is the fact that when you do hear her really open up her voice, you understand that it can be even better which is incredible. Overall, Dangerous Woman is a solid album. It helps that it came out just in time for summer parties as well.
Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande is now available everywhere including iTunes.
