There’s no need in looking back on the past when what you’re doing now has eclipsed it. Taylor Momsen silenced every doubter and given the proverbial middle finger to any haters that may exist…and, to be honest, they deserve it. Not only would Momsen‘s howling rock vocals make some of the female rock greats in history smile, The Pretty Reckless put on shows that will melt your face off. She may only be 19, but this girl has skipped rock & roll princess and gone straight to rock & roll queen. We recently caught up with Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless for a few minutes just before they hit the stage in Vancouver, B.C.
Lemonade Magazine: Welcome to Vancouver! May not be the most pretty part of the city, but hey…
Taylor Momsen: We’ve barely had any time to see the city, so I am just excited, because the venue [Rickshaw Theatre] is really cool.
LM: Now that you guys have been around a little while, what’s touring been like this year with headlining and such?
Taylor: The tour has been awesome so far. It started in Australia, so it feels like we’ve been on the road a lot longer than we have because of all the flying and stuff, but it’s been awesome. We’ve got about two months left and then a month with [Marilyn] Manson, so we are really fucking psyched.
LM: It’s got to be surreal just saying that, right?
Taylor: Oh yeah, right? I mean, I am fan too. We got to meet his band recently and they were awesome! It’s going to be a fun tour.
LM: What’s been the standout moment of this tour?
Taylor: In LA, we played The House of Blues and System of A Down’s drummer, John [Dolmayan] played “Aerials” with us and that was pretty fucking awesome.
LM: Anything planned after the Marilyn Manson tour?
Taylor: Yeah, we are headed to South America in July-August. We are really excited, since we’ve never been there.
LM: The new EP, Hit Me Like A Man, is insane. Is it a preview of what’s to come this year?
Taylor: Yeah, I guess you could say that! *laughs* We haven’t finished writing the record yet, but we know we are going to start recording once we are done with Marilyn Manson tour. It definitely is a taste though, for everyone.
