There is always something a little refreshing after the slow season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. It is a renewal or the start of something that brings out a bit more energy from up and coming artists, like our next guest, Eva Misle!
We had a chance to chat with the rising starlet about her upcoming single, “Sole Survivor”, her work with fashion legend, Nigel Barker, and more!
And as a bonus, we are set to premiere “Sole Survivor” on Lemonade Magazine on February 2, 2018!
Eva: I live in LA but I’m from Northern California. I love everything about music, I’m also a certified EMT. I’m crafty and like keeping my hands busy with crocheting blankets, painting, and bedazzling shoes (wait until you see my latest). I’m super close with my friends and family. I love movies, keeping up with my fitness is VERY important, and happy hour is a sacred part of the day!
I started singing in choir in high school and after I graduated I began traveling to LA to network and make connections. I’ve recorded in many studios, performed all over the country and worked with tons of amazing people to get to the point where I’m at today. Excited to be releasing this track, “Sole Survivor”! It’s a good one!
LM: Haha, we cannot wait to see the shoes! We are fortunate enough to be debuting your brand new single, “Sole Survivor”, here later this week. What inspired the track?
Eva: “Sole Survivor” is a meaningful song that talks about being a fighter and coming out a survivor. No matter what the situation is, we’ve all dealt with hard times and anyone can relate to the message of this song. Personally, I’ve been through quite a few struggles that I could tie into this track… Family or friend drama, breakup, eating disorder, other health struggles, whatever the case may be, the point is to continue fighting through it all to overcome anything. And be proud of the hardships and successes and scars you endure along the way! That is what it is to be a sole survivor.
LM: “Sole Survivor” is a departure from your previous works that you’ve released like “Body On Mine” and “Not My Daddy”. What challenges arose from this stylistic change?
Eva: “Sole Survivor” is a nice switch up from those other club tracks to something a little more heartfelt and meaningful. Every artist has a whole repertoire of lots of different music and it was time to break this one out. I think a lot of people will enjoy the song and feel the message.
Eva: Nigel was great! We had a great shoot together in a very cool warehouse in Brooklyn. It was a full day of shooting about 7 different looks. I was unlucky to have gotten super sick 2 days before this highly anticipated shoot, so I wasn’t feeling my best but the excitement and adrenaline helped me through my wardrobe changes! We got along really well, he invited me onto his Sirius XM talk show over there in NYC and I got to sit front row with him at NY Fashion Week! That was pretty awesome!
LM: That is crazy! You have a strong fan base that includes LGBTQ. What goes through your mind when realize that your fans cross all walks of life?
Eva: I love having a large fan base and being able to reach all different types of people. Even in my personal life, I like to surround myself with great people who are all different from one another. No judgement, just good vibes! I love my gays! I wouldn’t prefer my fan base any other way. Touring the country and performing in gay clubs and pride festivals were the best shows I’ve had! Being able to reach a wider audience shows that your music or your platform has the capacity to affect others and really leave a mark, that’s important to take advantage of as an artist and as a human.
LM: After the release of “Sole Survivor”, what are your plans for the rest of 2018?
Eva: I have some more music I’m working on…so look forward to more releases. And we have some upcoming shows too!
