Phillip Phillips is on tour right now with Matt Nathanson and we got a chance to chat him between shows! Did you know he’s working on his third album?!
Lemonade Magazine: Hey! Thank you for taking time out during your summer tour to chat with Lemonade! How is the tour going so far?
Phillip Phillips: The tour is going great! The crowds have been amazing and Matt is awesome. I feel my band and I are really tight right now and even playing new songs have gone really well.
LM: Matt Nathanson seem like a fun guy to tour with, how did the two of you hook up for this tour?
PP: Matt is hilarious at all times! My agent came to me and asked how I felt about doing a tour with him and we have mutual friends and I’ve heard great things about him and it just made sense. His music is awesome.
LM: We at the magazine would have to agree! We love Matt as well. What is your favorite song to perform live and why?
PP: It changes every day. It depends how the crowds react to each song. “Fly” is always a good one.
LM: For the stops you haven’t made yet, what can fans look forward to most with this summer tour?
PP: Fans can expect a good time. Guitar solos, horn solos and just good music.
LM: You can’t go wrong with a good time! Who is on your bucket list to go on tour with? Where are some bucket list locations you’d want to stop?
PP: I’ll tour with anyone as long as I get to play music. I love seeing new places.
LM: That has got to be the best part about touring – getting to see so many different places. Changing topics, you’re working on your third album right now, what can your fans expect to hear from it? How will it be different from your previous two? What are you most excited about with this new album?
PP: This new album is sounding pretty amazing. I think it’s my best music to date. It touches in several different genres that have inspired me. Rock, little funk, touch of R&B and I sing a little differently than I have before. I pushed myself to sing ways I didn’t know I could. I’m excited for everyone to hear it. Hopefully it doesn’t suck.
LM: We’re excited to hear it, too! I’m sure it won’t suck *laughs*. Thank you again so much for chatting with us! Best of luck with the rest of your tour and your upcoming album! We can’t wait to hear it!
