Here at Lemonade, we are very excited to debut Sarah Petrella‘s music video for her track, “Seasons”!
We were also fortunate enough to catch up with her for a quick chat. Check out both our interview and her brand new music video below!
Lemonade Magazine: How has your summer been so far?
Sarah Petrella: It’s been pretty fantastic! Been playing shows here in LA, made this video, and prepping my next release! Also got to throw in a little vacation time as well. Savannah, Georgia, Hilton Head, New York City, and of course, Big Sur.
LM: We are so excited to be debuting your music video for “Seasons”. Tell us a little bit about the video. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous.
SP: I’m so excited to have you debuting this as well! This video was an absolute blast to make. It was just me, my photographer pal, Aaron Rickel, and my boyfriend camping in the woods together. There was no pressure put on it at all. We didn’t even have a game plan set up.
Aaron and I would just pick a couple places to go out into during the “Golden Hour” and he shot some gorgeous footage. All I knew in my mind was that I wanted this video to feel very connected to nature. Aaron is super talented, and films in nature all the time, so for him this was just a piece of cake.
I did my own make up in my little car mirror, threw on a dress and got to go play on the beach, in the forest, on a field and in the river. It was all so magical. To me, it gave me a sense of realization that this is what art is about and how it should feel all the time. No pressure with how much it will cost and planning the million things that can go into making something. Just simplicity. It’s a guy with his camera and a girl with her song. This was my first time to Big Sur and it took my breath away. It’s definitely an enchanting place and you can feel the energy around you, like it’s just vibrating on a whole separate frequency. I can’t wait to make it back up there soon.
LM: I was a fan of the EP as well, it’s been out for a few months shy of a year now. Do you have any plans for a full length album or another EP?
SP: Yes! So I can’t believe it’s already been almost a year. I released the EP, Seasons, last November. I’m in the midst of planning my next release before the year is up. Another EP and I have it all recorded. It’s just having some final touches put on and should be ready soon.
LM: What’s been on your summer playlist this year?
SP: Alabama Shakes, John Paul White, Shovels & Rope, and Sarah Jarosz. Good, good tunes right there.
LM: Are you planning on touring the west coast soon?
SP: No immediate plans to tour. Right now I’m focusing on the LA scene and recording more music, but you never know!
