We are more than excited to be premiering the music video for Ashley Strongarm‘s debut single “I Don’t Feel Anything”. The New York by way of North Carolina singer/songwriter who also makes up 1/3 of the trio Dear Ears, is gearing up to release her debut EP Four Ghosts later this year and is set to release another single later this month.
Ashley Strongarm had this to say about the song and video:
I wrote “I Don’t Feel Anything” in hopes of combining the conflicting emotions I once felt during the end of a not-so-healthy relationship. I wanted the song to have the same sort of dissonance I was experiencing that the time. My incredible producer Nellie Fitzgerald really helped bring this feeling to life. The tune is upbeat and uses light sounds like chimes and clapping, and if you don’t pay too close attention to the lyrics you might assume that it’s happy. However, the lyrics are dark and withdrawn. They paint a picture of someone who can’t connect emotionally with people or get out of their own head. I wanted the video to reflect that as well.
The music video is animated, directed, and edited by Maris Jones whom Strongarm met through the social media app, Vine. Lavinia Jones Wright of Our Secret Handshake (a woman-led creative strategy and production collective) produced the video for In Living Technicolor Productions and also provided the hair & makeup, as well as the puppetry.
With that all said, it is time to check the video out. Let us know what you think!
P.S. We really love it.
