Today officially marks the seventh anniversary for Lemonade Magazine. Back in 2010 things were a little different, I (Brandon) had this crazy idea to create a Kindle-style page flipping experience for Lemonade and that lasted nearly five years before we realized that it just wasn’t working anymore. Thanks to co-owner, Aaron Mannari we transitioned to the site that we have now and are better than ever.
I don’t want to spend too much time remembering these past seven years. There are plenty of other important things going on in the world right now and our 10-year anniversary is just around the corner, right? What I do want to do though is thank everyone who has stuck with us through all of this and everyone who has hopped on along the way. We just simply love music. I said when I started Lemonade that it didn’t matter if you were playing for tips on a bench or if you were playing a sold out show at CenturyLink Field, if the product you were putting out matched the love we have for this beautiful art form, you would have a place here at Lemonade.
Every time we hear an artist that we have featured on the radio, on a commercial, a TV show or even over the speakers at some store we’re shopping at, it brings a smile to our faces, whether it is international superstars like Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors and Lights or independent artists such as Olivia Millerschin, Meiko and Emily Keener. The list goes on and on and on and not a day goes by where we don’t feel blessed to have created this crazy thing that allows us to get to know the art and the people that create it.
We know that in this digital age, music can’t be simplified by a position on an antiquated chart. Regardless of how many anniversaries Lemonade sees, how many readers we have and whether we can one day (finally) quit our day jobs or not, I promise you that our mission will always remain the same. You have our word.
Once again, THANK YOU.
