As a person of Canadian heritage (and yes I lead with that more often now than ever), I will be the first here at Lemonade to say how exciting it is to see our best friends to the north turn 150! If not for the “Great White North”, where would we be? Sure there are the obvious things like ketchup chips, poutine, maple syrup, Mr. Big bars and Wunderbars, but there is so much more to this beautiful country that I consider a home away from home.
For instance… take everyone’s “favorite” chick flick, The Notebook. If not for Canada, instead of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, we might have ended up with Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams and quotes like: “I wrote you’s a bunch of letters. Every day for a year. I was wicked in love with you. It wasn’t done… hey…. did you remember to say hi to your mother for me?”
And where would we be without Ryan Reynolds? Literally the only man who should ever play Deadpool.
How would we get our summer football fix without the CFL with its giant endzones and scoring “plays” without ever touching the ball?
Who would make sweeping cool again?
Oh Canada, you’ve made us laugh.
You’ve made us cry.
But above all you’ve made us proud to be your neighbor…or should I say “neighbour”? Happy 150th Canada! You don’t look a day over amazing…
Don’t leave just yet! I personally made a playlist for you! Full of many of the artists I grew up with, as well as those making great tunes today! Check it out below…
