At the beginning of every year, I usually make up a playlist full of my favorite songs from the previous year. It’s always a tough task, but this year took it to another level. Whether it was new artists like Alessia Cara, Tori Kelly and James Bay tearing it up or old favorites like Coldplay, Ellie Goulding and Carly Rae Jepsen releasing fresh new tracks, 2015 was incredible. Honestly this list could have been over 50 songs.
In order to keep the list at a reasonable number however, I looked back and chose tracks that really hit me this year such as “Demons” by Seattle’s own, Susy Sun, “How I Want You” by Hudson Thames f. Hailee Steinfeld or “Unsteady” by X Ambassadors. I also looked at my workout playlist and figured out which ones really kept me motivated like, “Powerful” by Major Lazer and “Magnets” from Disclosure. Finally I thought back to get-togethers and barbecues throughout the summer. When I was requesting songs to be played to keep the mood light and happy, I remember asking for songs like, “Shut Up and Dance With Me” (Walk The Moon) and “Downtown” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
Of course that’s just a few of them. I was a big fan of DNCE‘s EP, Swaay, this year and although “Cake by the Ocean” was a ton of fun, my favorite song of the EP is easily “Jinx”. Although I have never seen Fifty Shades of Grey (nothing against those who have!), even I can’t deny how good “Earned It” by The Weeknd is.
I hope you enjoy the playlist and as always, feel free to share some of your favorite songs as well!
Here’s to even more great music in 2016.
