I usually don’t get too nervous interviewing people for the podcast or for the site. I have been interviewing artists of all kinds for over a decade now and I am pretty used to it, so I wasn’t so much as nervous to interview Paul Abrahamian from the pop-noir band, Van Alden, just like…mildly intimidated.
The truth is that Paul is a cool guy! He has a HUGE personality and I felt like after watching him play Big Brother twice on television that I was too familiar with that and subconsciously my questions would stray toward his reality tv work rather than his music. Neither Paul nor his team told me to stay away from talking about Big Brother which is something that has happened with other artists in the past. I remember Taylor Momsen‘s team telling me outright NOT to mention Gossip Girl or anything that had to do with her acting career. I always try to be as respectful of an interviewer as I can be. I’m not out here to get gossip or sound clips, I just want people to know what makes these talented people tick.
Like I said though, Paul and his team were very open and although I did try to stick with music for the most part (because honestly Van Alden is great and this project deserves the recognition), I couldn’t help, but talk a little Big Brother with him and of course….friendship. Paul – being the genuine guy that he is – gave me a great interview and gave the most authentic answers which is all you can really ask for when you’re doing an interview. I hope you guys enjoy listening to it and again, thank you to Paul Abrahamian for being on the show!
Along with a sneak preview of Van Alden‘s upcoming single “Foolish”, I also play their latest single “Stay”, as well as tracks from Carly Rae Jepsen, SVIBES, Jade Jackson, and Alexander 23. Check it out below! Next week Ashley Strongarm joins me on the show, so make sure to subscribe on Podcoin, iTunes, or Google Play.
