I receive a ton of submissions every day here at Lemonade and try my best to go through all of them. Most of the time I organize the podcast with submissions, since that is obviously the best way to keep things moving smoothly and efficient. With that being said, sometimes I still come across an artist that I can’t help, but reach out to based on what I have heard from them.
In the case of Gabi Dipace, I actually discovered her music because of a past guest, Ivory Layne. I noticed that Gabi was preparing to open a show for Ivory and took a minute to listen to her work. I was obviously a fan and decided to reach out to see if she’d be interested in coming on the show. Thankfully she was interested and the rest is history.
I was actually fighting off a head cold during this interview and was definitely not on top of my game, but it was still great to chat with Gabi, even if I resorted to my default of talking about the weather for 10 minutes. I can’t help it, I wanted to be a meteorologist as a kid. Gabi is such a fantastic artist and the energy in her music is so catchy. I can’t wait to hear more from her later this year. Obviously we look forward to having her on the show again as well!
Also on this show, I play tracks from Talker, I am Boleyn, and an old friend here at Lemonade, Susy Sun.
